Ideas generation based on your domain and description

You can generate +100 social post ideas each day, arranged by topic, and create social posts with visuals using AI.

How it works:

1. Start by typing in your website domain or entering a brief description of your business.

Note: Providing a brand description is recommended to get more relevant posts crafted by AI.

2. The tool then analyzes your input and produces a range of ideas separated into different topics.

Want more? You can get as many ideas as you need by clicking on the “Get more ideas" button:

You can also:

• Delete suggestions or topics
• Add topics, whether manually or suggested by AI

Then, click “Generate” to write your post:

1. Pick an idea from your list of topics and click “Generate.”

2. Choose your preferred social media network from the drop-down list (optional).

3. Choose your tone of voice and specify a post type (optional).

4. Receive a draft of your post.

You can also: 

• Regenerate your post
• Rephrase, shorten or expand your post
• Change the tone of voice or type of the post

When your draft is ready, generate AI art (illustration) or images based on design templates. More details on how this works are below in the “C. Image or design generation based on your post or prompt” section.

5. Send your post to Semrush Poster or save

Once you’re totally happy with your piece of content, choose from two options: “Send to Poster” or “Save content”.

If you have a Semrush Social subscription, you can send the post directly to Poster for scheduling, where you can experiment with GIFs, emojis, tags, and the AI Assistant, to give it that extra sparkle:

Post generation based on your idea

If you already have content ideas or would like to recap the information from your website, click the “Generate content” button in the top-right corner.

This will allow you to create content for one of the social networks from scratch or by bringing a URL:


By selecting “Start from scratch”, you can add the ideas you want to write about and let the AI create a post based on the target social network, tone of voice, and type of post:



When you choose “Turn link content into text”, simply paste your URL in the pop-up window and select what kind of post you want to generate:



As before, you can: 

• Regenerate your post
• Rephrase, shorten or expand your post
• Change the tone of voice or the type of post
• Generate AI art (illustration) or images based on design templates
• Send your post to Semrush Poster or save

Image or design generation based on your post or prompt

You can generate images (illustrations or graphic designs based on templates) in several ways:

1. Based on the post you have generated
2. From scratch based on your idea, by clicking the button in the top right corner of the screen:
   1. AI art - illustrative images
   2. Design template - graphic designs based on templates
   3. Custom design - create an image using Design Editor

Create AI art 

AI art is an illustrative image, which is well-suited for attracting attention and making your post visually appealing:

1. Add the post you want to visualize.
2. Set the aspect ratio – the tool will suggest a suitable aspect ratio for each social platform.
3. Click “Generate art”.
4. You’ll receive four images of which you can save one. You can also download, regenerate, or go back to the previous set.

Note: You can also change the aspect ratio, but then the tool will generate four new images.

5. If the text hasn’t been generated yet, you can create it based on the image.
6. Send the finished post to the poster or save it in "Generated Content".

Generate graphic designs based on templates

Graphic designs are perfect for capturing the attention of social media users with text on the image. This format is also great for carousels.

1. Generate designs when you already have a post or start by creating the design itself by clicking the button in the top right corner and write a prompt.

2. Choose the social media network and the format for your graphics.

3. The tool will generate four templates with texts on them. Select the design that suits you.

4. When you’ve made your selection, you can refine the content by clicking “Refresh text and images”.

The app will generate four more variations using the selected template but with different text and images.

To change the design template, click on "Edit in Design Editor". This will open the selected visual in Design Editor where you can change the design, texts, and images.

5. Download the image or add post text. Send the finished post to the poster or save it in "Generated Content".

Create custom design in the Design Editor

You can create images and videos in the simple-to-use design tool. 

1. Start by choosing the social channel and format for your piece of content.

2. Choose the template to create a design or video and add your text or change the palette.

3. Click “Save” when you’re done.

4. You can also copy your design to create a new one based on it, which is particularly useful if you are creating a Carousel post.
